Desferal pump is an iron chelation machine, which's used for getting rid of iron in our body due to blood transfusion. In order to prevent iron overload in your organs and body. It has been used long time ago before oral chelaters tablet are avaiable in the market. Desferal infusion consist of an butterfly needle connected to a pump, with desferal solution in it and left it overnight. Normally will take around 8-10 hours for the whole treatment, till he syringe is empty. The machine is operated using a battery, once every few minutes or so. The pump will move forward a little.
Disadvantage of using it of course is when you're sleeping, laying down on bed. When flipping around your bed, you will feel uncomfortable due to the pump is pressing against your chest. That might lead to the needle to moving around causing swollen, hardness and redness around the area of injection.
Until now, had stop desferal infusion for at least five years. But I still kept the desferal pump with me at all time, becuase firstly the pump itself is expensive. Secondly, you will never know when you might need it again. My advise to you is don't donate the pump away thinking you will not need it anymore, because will be expensive to purchase a new one.
That's basically it for now, leave me a comment telling me what you think and I will see you later (:
