GENE THERAPY PRESENTATION IN SINGAPORE UPDATE

Rencently I had went for the Gene Therapy presentation entitled "Gene Therapy for Thalassaemia". Talking on the current status and future directions, it's conducted by Dr Michael Antoniou and his project team members from National University of Singapore. It's an 2 hours presentation talking about the update and process of Gene Therapy. Dr Michael say they already have the formular in curing Beta-Thalassemia. But still will need further test on the efficiency, side-effect and things like that and say it would take about 2 years before patients can actually start using it. Hopefully Thalassemia patients around the world will received the treatment for the cure.


 

They are saying things like, they will withdraw our blood and insert their formula with your blood back into our body. That's will actually make our bone marrow work normally and produce normal functioning red blood cells, so you can be cure from Thalassemia and in order to stop having iron chelation, the need of blood transfusion for life. Don't you feel excited about it. That's what I heard from the presentation and put in out on my own words, hope I am able to bring out the point. I will be very excited in hearing more update on the further good news of Gene Therapy.
